  Notes	Name: John William Baum Father: George Baum Mother: Eliza Ann Allen Birth Date: 26 Apr 1868 City: Provo County: Utah State: UT Country: USA Per the 1930 census, it appears that Hannah Gordon Baum (Davis) married her brother-in-law, John William Baum. Present in the household is a son named Orville, born about 1919, which appears to match her son Orville from her marriage to David Wallace Baum which ended with his death in 1918. John William Baum was married to Myrta Haws and eventually divorced. His death certificate states he was divorced from Myrta at the time of his death. Incidentally, Hannah Gordon Baum is buried in Provo City Cemetery with her first husband, David Wallace Baum. As yet, no marriage record has been found which substantiates the above marriage between Hannah and John William Baum but is assumed until further evidence disproves the assumption. Per the 1940 Census, Provo, Utah, Utah, Hannah Baum is documented as the sister-in-law to J.W. Baum (John William assumed). The census further states that she is a widow, as is John William Baum. This contradicts what the 1930 census states about her being John Williams's husband. Research to date reflects no other possible sister-in-law named Hannah. Additionally, the presence of a circle with an x in it on the census image itself, indicates that the census information provided to the census taker was John William Baum. It is therefore presumed that the 1930 census is incorrect and they are, in fact, brother and sister-in-law as stated rather than being husband and wife. It is further noted that on John Williams death certificate he was divorced from his wife, Myrta Haws Baum, rather than being widowed. If married, with him dying before Hannah, it would reflect her as being his wife. The death certificate informant was Newell Baum, his son. It is presumed that would know for a fact that his father was married or not. [6] [8, 9]
