Obituary 10 Feb 1990 [5] Vera Durrant Matthews, age 86, our loving mother and grandmother, died on February 9, 1990.
She was born August 20, 1903 in Provo, Utah, a daughter of Arthur Joseph and Josephine Peay Durrant. On June 12, 1929, she married Douglas D. Matthews Sr. in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He preceded her in death on December 8, 1976.
Vera attended Brigham Young University and was an active member of the LDS Church, serving in various capacities including, Relief Society President, South Cottonwood Ward; organist in the Primary and Sunday School and as a visiting teacher for many years. She was also a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers, South Cottonwood Camp.
Survivors: sons, Douglas D. Matthews and his wife, Elaine, Midvale; Leland D. Matthews and his wife, Karen, Salt Lake City; eight grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, February 13, 1990 at 12 Noon in the Little Cottonwood 6th LDS Ward Chapel, 6410 South 725 East, Murray. Friends may call at Goff Mortuary, 8090 South State Street, Midvale on Monday from 6-8 p.m. and on Tuesday at the Church one hour prior to the services.
Interment: Larkin Sunset Gardens.
