Note: There are a number of discrepancies in this census. Per FAG, Eliza was born in Georgia and Frederick in Michigan. Ada M. is believed to the child of Eliza's first marriage to Ezra Bird making her Ada M. Bird. Unsure if adopted or not. |

- According to Find A Grave Memorial 40625667, Eliza Startin is the daughter of of Thomas Startin & Eliza Davis Startin. Eliza Davis Startin was also the wife of George E Horton (1834 - 1902), Memorial 5894816. It is thought that her first husband died prior to the 1870 census as the census reflects her second marriage with daughter Eliza who is bearing the stepfather's surname. Daughter Eliza is shown as being born in Tennessee, rather than Georgia as her death certificate reflects. The census reflects a birth year of 1856 which is the same as her death certificate dob. Much research remains in this area.
Searching Find A Grave further, a memorial was found for Eliza Davis Startin Horton (1824-1913), Memorial 38381855. The memorial links the daughter Eliza Startin Scott as one of her children. This memorial references her mother as Sophia Peers Davis (1803-1876) which concurs with the name of her mother that appears on her mother's death certificate (Sophia Pierce).
Also worthy of note, is that the 1900 Census states that Eliza Startin (Scott) and husband Frederick have been married 32 years. This would place the marriage in the 1868 time frame. However, Provo City Cemetery Burial Records reflect a burial record for Ezra Thomas Bird, 11 May 1873, whose parents are listed as Ezra Bird and Eliza Startin Bird. This evidence would dispute the 1868 marriage date of 1868 of Frederick and Eliza.
The Provo City Burial Record for Ezra Bird (1840-1917) reflects his spouse, Eliza Startin Bird, and he are divorced. (Block 7, Lot 4)
The Provo City Burial Record for Eliza Davis Startin (1824-1913) reflects she was married to Thomas Startin and then to George Everett Horton; parents are Thomas Davis and Sophia Peers Davis. (Block 6, Lot 76)
The Provo City Burial Record for Frederick Scott (1841-1913) reflects he was married to Eliza Startin Scott and that she died in 1905. (Block 6, Lot 75)
