Naomi Ferguson Peterson Walker, 80, of Orem, Utah, died October 28, 2001 surrounded by family. She was born May 4, 1921, in Orem, Utah to James B and Osa Bowlden Ferguson. She married Norris Glen Peterson (Mike) in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They were later divorced. She married J.T. Walker.
Naomi attended schools in Orem and graduated from Lincoln High School. She worked for Sears as she obtained her cosmetology license. She owned and operated Naomi's Beauty Shop in Orem for 35 years. She also served on the Utah State Board of Cosmetology.
She loved to be involved with family activities, friends and traveling. She was always available. Her motto was "people before things." She was also the only person we know who could manage to burn water.
She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, James Michael (Mick) and LaReta L. Peterson, and her loyal canine companion, Peanuts. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren, Tylyn (Tad) Weight, Paul L. (Emily) Peterson and Tad L. Peterson, all of Orem, Shawn L. (Mindy) Peterson, Provo, Jamie (Nathan)
Hoyal, Orem; 8 great grandchildren; Tafton, Tyler, Trevar, Tessa, Taylee and Tatia Weight, Addie and Adam Peterson, J.T. Walker, St. George and Carol C. Ferguson, sister-in-law of Orem. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, Howard, Ray, Cecil Ferguson and her first husband, Norris Glen (Mike) Peterson.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 1, 2001 at 11 a.m. in the Timpview 5th Ward Chapel, 865 W 1000 North, Orem, Utah under the direction of the Walker Sanderson Funeral Home of Orem. Friends may call at the Ward House from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to service. Burial will be in the Orem City Cemetery.
Thanks to her friends at Beehive Home of Orem on 800 East for helping Naomi enjoy the last 6 months of life.
