  	James Baum Ferguson, 79, 1625 E 800 N, Orem, well known church and civic leader, died Wednesday afternoon at his home of natural causes. The was born Aug 20, 1889, in Provo, a son of Fred and Elizabeth Baum Ferguson. He married Ossa Bowlden on Nov 30, 1910, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Mr. Ferguson was a fruit farmer. Active in the LDS Church, he was serving as a high priest in the Edgemont First Ward at the time of his death. From 1926 to 1929, Mr Ferguson served in the bishopric as a counselor in that ward. He was later the second bishop of the ward from 1929 to 1934. For a number of years he was a high councilman on the stake high council. Mr Ferguson had lived in the Provo-Orem area his entire life. Since 1918 he had made his home at the above address. For 35 years he was president of the Alta Ditch Company. In 1968, he received an award from the Future Farmers Association as "Horticulturist of the Year". Survivors include his widow of Orem; two sons and one daughter, Ray B Ferguson, Mrs J. T. (Naomi) Walker and J. Cecil Ferguson, all of Orem; 16 grandchildren, and three brothers and four sisters, Floyd Ferguson, Fred Ferguson and Forrest Ferguson, all of Orem; Mrs Hazel Anderson, Bountiful; Mrs Elsie Campbell and Mrs Myrtle Robey, both of Provo, and Orpha Ferguson, Portland, Oregon. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Edgemont First LDS Ward Chapel, Bishop Charles Y. Warner, Edgemont First LDS Ward, officiating. Friends may call at the Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary in Orem. Friday and at the ward chapel Saturday prior to the services. Burial will be in the Orem City Cemetery.
