He was born Nov 17, 1910 in Provo, son of Gilbert H. and Celestia Ellen Kennedy Field. He married Opan Schaerrer on March 25, 1931 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
He was educated in the Provo City schools and worked as a welder for many construction companies, including Kennecott Copper at Magna. He worked as a foreman during the construction of Geneva and later worked for U.S. Steel at Ironton.
In 1944, he established Field Welding and later in 1950 took over the GMC Dealership for the Provo area. He operated that business for some 27 years before retiring in 1971.
He was a member of the LDS Church, serving in various capacities including elders quorum presidency, high priest presidency and Sunday School presidency. He worked as a temple worker at the Provo Temple for six years.
Survivors include his wife; four sons and two daughters, Mrs Kenneth (NevaGene) Aston, Simi Valley, Calif; Donald W. Field, Mrs Edmund L. (Sharlene) Davenport, Victor G. Field, Larry G. Field, and Garry A. Field, all of Orem; 18 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one brother and one sister, Herald V. Field, Provo, and Mrs Lee J (Velma) Taylor of Springville.
Funeral services will be Monday at 11 a.m. in the Pleasant View First Ward Chapel, 650 E. Stadium Ave., Provo. Friends may call at the Walker Mortuary in Provo Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday at the ward chapel prior to the services.
