#WWI, World War I Draft Registration
From: Mrs B.R. Jarrell
RFD Box #33
Round Oak, Ga
Dated: Friday morning, July 19, 1918
Dear Richard,
Your papa received your letter several days ago, and we were glad to hear from you as we always are.
Guess you enjoyed your trip to Stone Mountain. We want you to come the 27, if you can get off.
Ellis H and Fred Z came home last Sat- now a week. There were four boys turned down that went off with the last call, but I did not know any except Woodall Grun.
I saw in the telegraph yesterday that the next call would be Aug 5th. Ga's share would be 500 they would be sent to Camp Greenleaf Ft Oglethorpe, so am quite sure that will take Willie.
Milton stood his examination Tuesday, passed ok.
Helen came Sunday afternoon and stayed until Tues. Allene and Bessie went with her down to see Florree stayed until Thursday then Milton carried her over to Essies.
There was an all day singing at Glover last Sun and there is to be one at Cany Creek the frist Sun in Aug.
Dr Glover spent last Friday at Mr Brooks but your papa did not see him.
Jessie May is just about as low as she can get, they have a trained nurse for the last few days, she has had the second relapse. Dr White goes to see her three times daily since she has gotten so very low.
Robt Byrd, Mitch Myrd's son, was run over at the southern yard in Macon a few days ago and had one of his legs cut-off from which he died in a very short time. He was a brakeman.
We have just had a nice rain this morning.
Think they are getting on very well with the field work, they have finished hoeing the cotton around the house, hoed the oats (?) off yesterday at the Sanders place, say there is very little grains in it it, have also nearly finished plowing the cotton around here except - that new ground near the mail box guess that-will need more work.
We are as well as usual except-Mildred is a little sick.
We shall look for you the 27th.
I am as ever,
Mama
