- Immigration
The port of departure was Antwerp, Belgium with place of origin being Switzerland. Arriving on the Lochinvar in the port of New York City on 25 Apr 1855. Departure from Antwerp on 14 Mar 1855.
Ship manifest for Bittaker (variants) arriving from Antwerp, Belgium in New York, New York, on 25 April 1855 also included the following. It is thought that these families are related but research thus far has failed to provide documentation as such.
Family 1: Johann Büttiker (49), Anna Maria (wife, 26), Robert (son, 5), and Phillipe (son, 3). Further research shows that this family settled in Ohio before the 1860 census.
Family 2: Victor Boetticker (abt 1813), Maria (abt 1809), Veronicka (abt 1839), Judith (abt 1843), Leo (abt 1845), Bertha (abt 1854) [This family]
Family 3: Johann (abt 1819), Maria Anna (abt 1827)
Research thus far reflects that Victor and his family settle in Kirkland, Oneida, New York by 1860 with a subsequent move to Jefferson, Linn, Missouri before the 1870 census year. It is presumed that Bertha has been placed with Victor as she is shown in the 1870 with Family 2.
