Per Ancestry, South Carolina, Wills and Probate Records, 1670-1980, the inferred death year is 1847; her Letter of Guardianship was probated on 4 Oct 1847; actual date of death has not been verified.
It is premised as this writing that Melinda was alive per the Guardianship Letter as stated, "Whereas Melinda Junkins did this day present a petition to this court praying that the said". Further, a Millie Junkins was recorded in the 1860 census with son Wesley; Millie was 66 at the time which concurs with her actual age if born in 1794 or 1795. In the 1870 census, a M. Junkins, age 75, was living with a Caroline Junkins (also present in the 1860 census). Caroline Junkins was also found in the 1880 census with Melinda Junkins, age 85, living with her. Wesley is absent in both the 1870 and 1880 census. The 1880 census reflects that Melinda Junkins is Caroline's mother-in-law; therefore, Caroline is presumed to be wife of Wesley as reflected in the 1860 census. Further research is needed. |
